When dealing with a patch, you create a new bug on the [https://www.gramps-project.org/bugs bug tracker] and attach a patch to it.
The [https://www.gramps-project.org/bugs bug tracker] has a drop down at the top right to allow a choice among the projects under the Gramps BugtracckerBugtracker; the default project shown is '''All Projects'''. Choose the project '''Gramps''' and submit an issue.
A patchfile is a text file with your changes which can be sent by email to somebody, or posted/uploaded to the bug tracker (against a bug you are fixing or a feature request which you are solving for instance), etc...
