PS:[[User:Matt|Matt]]: Hmmm, I have 18 Associations for one person and it is less than a second to draw for me. I am on a 2013 Mac, so not the fastest system. This may be more of a function of PyCairo implementation on the platform. Can How did you provide more info on platform and range of overlaps. :# Are most of your segments tied to a maternal/paternal side or unknown (which can definitely get busy)? Almost all of mine are M/P known. The drawing format is the standard one (for each segment an M and a P section). I fear I would add more confusion if I diverted from that. I cannot think of how I would draw in an order that guaranteed the largest was always behind all smaller overlaps. I have only 1 totally obscured overlap, so hadn't thought about this problem. I only realized I had this when I made the segments more transparent (see next item).:# Maybe if all were less opaque, it would be an easier viewmake them? Change line 330 of dna.py to the following. I will keep to this page. ::::::::To answer about github - I dont think so. ::::Every language takes a bit of customization and if people change redirects, it can mess things up. You can compare the scripts for the various languages and see that some take different approaches based on whether redirects or translated pages are used. And my scripts were written for running on Mac (BSD version of tools) and some of the commands may have a slight tweak to the arguments they use if they are SVR4 based. ::::Most of my time when running the tools is spent fixing original pages so that they will work properly (fixing header and footer mostly). The tool itself takes about a day to add a language. If I have to make changes to translated pages (which I try very hard to avoid) I need someone familiar with the language to assist. I needed this for NL but not for HE or RU. And it was only a couple expressions. ::::::::Have you completed the work with Gioto on redirects? If so, I can review to see if the manual generation process needs any updates. I have been asked to do a FR version. It is on my todo list. ::::::::My goal is to do a 5.2 manual once the documentation is ready (maybe early 2024?). All of the languages I have translated have a per chromosome PLUS)mix and this makes the process difficult for someone else to read the scripts and make changes for a new language, for instance. What are your thoughts on individual plus vs just an overall plusWhere should I put the FR scripts?As I do new languages, I further refine and simplify the process I use. I suspect when 5.2 is ready and all of the redirect is completed, I will simplify even more and make them more standard. For the earlier translations I fixed some of the translated pages. But then they were locked so I had to kludge the scripts instead. That would (probably) only have one pair of people in the viewuploaded. I assumed that the value of this gramplet was when there were many associated people Feel free to look at the big picture. I thought that there would be only a small number (often just one) of people with very long Associated lists. Looking at the reciprocal view would be a way to reveal overlaps.
